Equipment Supply & Demand: Manufacturer Backorder

Updated: Dec 14, 2021

Dear Valued Customer, You may remember a while back, we had posted an article about a price increase due to a chemical plant fire that destroyed a large portion of the chlorine supply of the southeastern United States. You can revisit that article by clicking HERE.

It's that time of year again when pool owners are gearing up to open their pools for the summer. It is important to have all your equipment in order, but it may not be as easy as you think. Manufacturers and distributors are experiencing a high demand for their products, which means they are running low on supply. As you may be aware, COVID-19 has hurt a lot of businesses, both large and small alike. Due to supply chain issues, the main pool industry equipment manufacturers are struggling to provide the quantity needed to fulfill the increased demand as of late.

The most common question we get from pool owners is "What's up with all the back-ordered equipment?" The answer to that question is complicated and involves several factors. To start, there has been an increase in new pools being built over the last few years. This trend has led to an increased demand for products such as filters, pumps, heaters, etc. Manufacturers have responded by increasing production capacity but it takes time for these changes to happen. This leads us to our next point: Inventory Management.

Manufacturing plants periodically shut down for inventory management reasons, meaning they need to take time off of production runs during this downtime period, leading to supply shortages and backlogs on orders placed during this time frame. The standard backorder issues that we normally see during this time of year have become an even bigger problem than we are used to seeing, due to the coronavirus outbreak. Here at Sea Breeze Pools, we do our best to be transparent with our customers. If you are looking for a part of your pool system that needs replacing, please reach out to us. We will try our best to use our connections/network to get you what you need promptly. We value your business and will continue to provide you with the best pool service possible.

Sincerely,
